Background
Undoubtedly one of the favourite models of the V8 range from Aston Martin, this Oscar India is presented in Sebring Blue with what is a modest mileage for its age and accompanied by a cracking history file – one for a collector or a newcomer to classic Aston Martins.
1978 was an exciting year for Aston Martin and their owners, in June the Volante was unveiled and a few months later the V8 series IV or “Oscar India” = October Introduction, became available. The revised specification of the series IV included a change in shock absorber settings, leather head lining, burr walnut dash board and door cappings, discreet integral rear spoiler, carburettor bonnet bulge with the dummy air intake now closed at the front and extensive improvements to the standard air conditioning.
Summary:
Undoubtedly one of the favourite models of the V8 range from Aston Martin, this Oscar India is presented in Sebring Blue with what is a modest mileage for its age and accompanied by a cracking history file – one for a collector or a newcomer to classic Aston Martins.
Byron International had the pleasure of representing the owner in the sale of his DB6 and feel honoured to represent this outstanding car that is ready for a new owner

? 1985 Greenwich Concours 3rd
In 1986, the first change of ownership came when a Brian Webster of London acquired the car. With the same enthusiasm, the maintenance of the car was conducted by Aston marque specialist JM Etheridge of Bushey Heath in Hertfordshire and the new owner carried on the concours tradition of the car:
? 1986 Kent Concours 1st (Newcomers Class)
? 1987 Silverstone Concours 1st
The service record in this period includes attention to paint quality and replacement inner and outer sills.
The final change of owner cam in June 2000 when the current long-term owner took over stewardship of the car, calling initially on the well-known talents of Davron for maintenance as they sold him the car. From 2002 to 2013, there are no invoices for routine maintenance, but in addition to Davron, two other specialists, Hoffman’s and Stoke Row Garage did routine maintenance. The owner spent time in the US and has copies of the local registration documents and has recovered the service details from the specialist servicing undertaken at that time.
An Aston enthusiast, the Oscar shared garage space with a DB6 and other more modern cars and you can note from the extensive MOT records that the mileage over this ownership has been modest.
However, the owner’s attitude to excellence with Aston Martin is reflected in his attitude when the car came to Byron International for sale. A full assessment showed there was some investment required before the car came to market so that its condition reflected its history – the invoices noted in the history from Vantage Engineering demonstrate that the car is presented in great fettle and his investment in the future of the car exceeded £5,500.
